Earthquake Damage Estimation for Buildings and Urban Disaster Mitigation Planning

Collecting a large amount of damage survey data after the 1995 Kobe Earthquake, various correlation analyses were conducted on a geographical information system (GIS). The strong motion distribution (the peak ground velocity) in the hard-hit area by the earthquake was estimated. Through this kind of research, we try to contribute for the social seismic safety and the urban safety planning.
